Keep Your Goals on Track as You Get Back to the Grind!

It's January 3rd, and the feeling of the New Year is still sparkly! As you may have set your intentions for the year, they probably felt really good as the glitter of the holiday still shone, and you had free time. But, now that you're back to the daily grind, here are some tips to help you keep that luster on your goals!

1. Get to your calendar and block off the time you need for your well-being, whether it's not scheduling morning meetings until after your workout, or, blocking time on your calendar to get away from your desk at lunch, or setting a recurring appointment for your Thursday yoga class. YOU are in charge of your calendar! Block those times off and treat them as though they are meetings with someone important....because they are! And, that someone important is YOU!  All too often, we let other peoples' priorities slide into our time, and before you know it, you have no time left. Or, you put yourself on the back burner. Take this opportunity early in the year, to get those time blocks set!

2. Achieving goals is fun when you make it social! Recruit some of your office buddies to go on walks during break times. Pick a time that'll work for the majority of you, and stick to it! You'll have built in accountability partners and it's a great way to get away from your desks and get moving! There'll be days where things interrupt your walks; but, if you start making a plan and building momentum, then, you'll be more likely to stick to it! More likely than not, whatever it is that you're working on can wait for 15-20 minutes AND most definitely, you'll come back from your walk with a clearer mind, more focus, and energized!

3. Commit to eating AWAY from your desk. You don't have to go out to eat. Just take your lunch elsewhere - anywhere! The break room, a conference room, if it's nice out, treat yourself to a picnic! Your mind and body need a break and you'll be more mindful of what you're eating. Which, will make you less likely to eat more than you intend, and to make healthier choices!
